Restaurant #63 - Mooser's - November 2nd 2012

We went to Mooser's. There was Erick, Stephan, Stephane, Mikella, Darren and I. We originally wanted to go to Pastalli's, and Darren and I had both tried calling during the day to make a reservation, but we either got a busy signal or no answer, so we decided to chance it and show up without a reservation. Turns out that didn't work, then we had to figure out somewhere else to eat. We finally settled on Mooser's in Dieppe, and to say it lightly, the restaurant left quite an impression on us all.

Now, I've eaten at Mooser's before, without complaint. However, supper didn't go all that well this time. When we got there, there were people at a few other tables but the restaurant was nowhere near full, it was pretty much empty. Either way, after we ordered, it took more than a half an hour to get our food. But, I'm getting a little ahead of myself. Erick ordered a beer that came with a slice of orange on it. When he went to eat his orange slice, he noticed a staple on it. We tried to get the waitress' attention, but it didn't work, so he ended up just going up to the bar, where the girl there just said sorry, and offered him another orange slice.

When our food finally arrived, two people's sides were wrong, and one of the slices of bread on my club was burnt to a crisp. Not the black burnt kind of burnt, but the kind where you left it in a sandwich press too long and it's super crispy. Anyways, I ended up removing that piece of toast. Overall the food just wasn't that good. And, as we all found out after, if you subsitute your side of fries for a salad, it costs extra, which the waitress didn't tell us.

Anyways, when it all came to an end, I would no longer recommend Mooser's to anyone and I have no plans on returning there again.

Restaurant #62 - Saigon Thaï - October 26th

We (Stephan, Stephane, Mikella, Darren and I) went to Saigon Thaï. It's another Thaï restaurant in Moncton. The food is good, but I always feel bad for the waitresses there because the few times that I've been, there is usually only one of them there, and they're always rushing around and the customers have to wait forever for service.

Anyways, the food is good, nothing really bad to say, but when we all made our lists of the favorite Thaï restaurants in Moncton, it didn't top any of our lists. The two at the top are Vien Dong and Red Satay, however, we still haven't been to the Thaï place in Dieppe, so maybe Saigon Thaï might still have a shot for third place.

Oh yeah, the light fixtures there are awsome.

Restaurant #61 - Silvery Moon - October 19th 2012

The gang went to Silvery moon. The review is from Darren as are the pictures:

Attendees:  Mireille, Erick, Stephan, Mikella, Stephane, Darren.

I don't know why this place is so popular.  Chicken balls, salt, glowing red sweet sauce, slimy vegetables, and the Beatles as ambiance music.  At least I got to pet a nice black dog in the parking lot.

New Restaurant List

So, we're been talking about the different restaurants that we still haven't done yet and we're curious about how many we'll get to (we've attained our Silver Jubilee and Golden Jubilee, but will we make the Diamond Jubilee?).

Here's a list of stuff left:
- Pastalli
- Five Bridges
- Kim Long
- Thaï restaurant in Dieppe on Champlain Street
- Kichee Sushi
- Mooser's pub
- Igloo pub
- Bistro 33
- Chef's Bistro (I checked the website and it seems to be open on Friday's)
- Silvery Moon
- Zen Garden
- Catch 22 Lobster Bar
- Petit Cavalier
- M.I.C. Whiskey Bar (old Don Cherry's)
- New restaurant where Voodo's used to be
- Norm's Pizza
- Acadie Pizza (I think this is the name, the one on Champlain St, someone correct me)
- The acadian restaurant that we saw on Champlain Street, across from the Dairy Queen
- The Thaï place on Orange Lane
- Country Cookery in Riverview.. anyone heard of this place??

Restaurant #60 - Fisherman's Paradise - October 12th 2012

Well, we've managed to go to another Moncton area restaurant before it closes it's doors forever. We went to Fisherman's Paradise for supper. I had been once to the restaurant years before, so I pretty much forgot what it was like. First thing, the place is HUGE, and the lighting seems a little bit off. I did like all the fisherman themed decorations in the restaurant though.

As for the food, it was just ok. I will admit that choosing a cheeseburger at a seafood restaurant might not be the best choice, but if you're going to have a burger on the menu, it might as well taste good, right? Darren had the fish and chips, and said they were ok also. Stephan had a mixed seafood plate, and he did say that the bacon-wrapped scallops were delicious (the best thing on the plate). Mikella had a lobster roll and Stephane had a club sandwich, if memory serves me, they tasted ok too.

Overall concensus, the decor is fun, the place is huge, but the food is just ok.

See, weird lighting, Stephane
has never looked better.

Restaurant #59 - Osaka Hibachi - October 5th 2012

A bunch of people went to Osaka Hibachi to eat at a Teppenyaki table. This is a relatively new sushi/japanese restaurant in town on Main street. The teppenyaki tables are the tables where the chefs cook in front of you on a big griddle. I was looking forward to going, but ended up sick with a cold/flu, so I didn't make it to supper.

Things to know about this place:
We had to call almost 2 weeks in advance to get a reservation for 9 people at 5 pm on a Friday.
If you're at a Teppenyaki table.. order from the teppenyaki menu! It's pretty much the whole point of getting a spot at one of the tables, if you order sushi, you don't get the show.

After talking to Darren and Stephan, I realized I wasn't too disappointed over not going, as Darren confirmed that the Teppenyaki experience is pretty much exactly the same as the Hamachi House in Halifax, where I've been lucky enough to go a few times. Also, the filet mignon is delicious and melts in your mouth.. so it's a definite recommendation.

Erick and Mireille had taken the pictures for the restaurant, so I will post them as soon as I get them.

I will rotate the pic when I figure out how to do it on here, or reload it.

Restaurant #58 - Pizza Delight - September 28th 2012

We went to Pizza Delight for supper. There was Leanne, Stephan, Stephane, Pierre and I. First thing, we ended up going to supper quite late.. Leanne's train was late, and we, being the nice, kind people we are, decided to wait for her for supper.

Anyways, when we were there, Stephane and I got the buffet, Pierre and Stephan got meat pizzas, and Leanne got a salad. Everything looked good, except that for one of the pizzas at the buffet, the dough wasn't quite cooked. It didn't matter too much to me, as it was the round of the buffet where I just ate all the toppings and left the bread, but for someone that was actually going to have eaten the dough, it wouldn't have been a nice surprise.

I was also a horrible picture-taker, as I forgot to get pictures of everyone's food before they started eating, and I forgot to get a picture of everyone outside the restaurant.. oops.
