Restaurant #70 - Little Louie's - January 4th 2013

This week, we went to Little Louie's (Oyster Bar). There was Stephane, Stephan, Darren, Erick and I. It was my first time ever going there before. The location of the restaurant is a little weird, it's in a more industrial/commercial part of town, on the second floor of a building that, if my memory is correct, also has a pet feed store. The inside of the restaurant was very nice and the food.. the food was absolutely amazing! I think that this was probably one of my most enjoyable gastronomic experiences. Windjammer was quite fun, but more because it was snooty, this was just delicious tasting, the pairing of the vegetables, sauce, spices, everything was delicious.

They started by giving us an amuse-bouche, it was something with fish, but because I had an allergy, the chef prepared a celeriac soup in a little mug for me. (They were very accomodating with allergies, and had even asked when the reservation was made if anyone had food allergies). After that, Darren and I got ceasar salad as an appetizer and Erick and Stephan had some soup. The portions are not huge, and not too small, they seem just right. For the main meal, Darren and Erick had the lamb 3 ways and Stephane, Stephan and I had the meal of the day, which consisted of a bunch of little things but was mainly beef with some vegetables. At the end of the meal, we all had dessert too. Other little particularities of the restaurant were that the waiter would describe all the different elements in a dish and there was a piano player (!).

Overall, it was an amazing experience for me, and if I ever have a special occasion that I would like to celebrate, this place would definitely be top of my list!
